From August 29 to 31, Fumba Town on the coast of Zanzibar transformed into a dynamic cultural hub as it hosted the inaugural FuTopia Festival, a unique three-day event blending music, art, wellness, and eco-conscious living.

Organized by Busara Promotions, the team behind the renowned Sauti za Busara festival, FuTopia was envisioned as a “festival of the future,” where community, innovation, and creativity intersected in an immersive, forward-thinking experience. The result was a vibrant, multi-sensory event that brought together artists, families, entrepreneurs, and change makers from across East Africa and beyond.

Days at FuTopia were filled with a wide range of interactive experiences, from The Eco Village showcased up-cycled fashion, recycling workshops, and environmental innovations. The Afya Zone focused on health and wellness, offering yoga, meditation, and holistic health activities.

Evenings came alive with powerful live performances on the main stage. Acclaimed artists such as Bensoul, Rosa Ree, Damian Soul, and the Uwaridi Female Band delivered captivating sets that blended traditional rhythms with contemporary African sounds. The atmosphere was electric—multimedia visuals, DJ sets, and energetic crowds made each night unforgettable.

Beyond entertainment, FuTopia offered a meaningful platform for dialogue around sustainability, innovation, and the role of culture in shaping a better future. It was a space where tradition met modernity, and where creativity was celebrated not just as art, but as a tool for transformation.

FuTopia 2025 was more than a festival, it was a curated experience designed to inspire, connect, and challenge perceptions. With its successful debut, it has firmly positioned itself as one of Zanzibar’s most exciting new cultural events.
