Zanzibar Magazine officially launched its inaugural issue this evening at an exclusive event held at Park Hyatt Zanzibar, bringing together leaders from government, tourism, hospitality, business, media, and the creative industries to celebrate the unveiling of a new platform dedicated to showcasing Zanzibar’s culture, creativity, heritage, tourism and investment potential.

The launch event was officiated by the Honourable Shariff Ali Shariff, Minister of Labour and Investment, Zanzibar, who attended as Guest of Honour alongside distinguished guests including investors, resort owners, entrepreneurs, creatives, development partners and members of the diplomatic and business community.

Positioned as a premium lifestyle and culture publication, Zanzibar Magazine aims to present Zanzibar through a modern, globally relevant lens while elevating local voices, businesses, destinations and creative talent. The publication will feature stories across travel, hospitality, fashion, culture, design, entrepreneurship, wellness and island life.
Speaking during the launch, the Honourable Minister emphasized the importance of strategic storytelling and destination branding in strengthening Zanzibar’s investment and tourism profile.

“Zanzibar continues to position itself as a competitive destination for tourism and investment, and platforms such as Zanzibar Magazine play an important role in shaping international perception and visibility. Strong branding and storytelling are increasingly important in attracting investors, visitors and strategic partnerships. This publication provides an opportunity to showcase the diversity, creativity and economic potential of Zanzibar to regional and global audiences,” said the Honourable Minister of Labour and Investment, Zanzibar.
The launch also highlighted the growing importance of the creative economy in contributing to tourism development, entrepreneurship and private sector growth.

Founder, Chief and Editor of Zanzibar Magazine, Rosemary Kokuhilwa, described the publication as a platform designed to tell deeper and more authentic stories about Zanzibar and its people.
“Zanzibar has always inspired me and the world through its beauty, culture and history, but beyond the postcard image are incredible people, businesses, creatives and stories that deserve to be seen and celebrated. Zanzibar Magazine was created to document and elevate those stories with depth, quality and intention, while contributing to the broader positioning of Zanzibar as a destination of culture, creativity and opportunity,” said Rosemary Kokuhilwa.

The inaugural issue features a curated collection of stories and visuals celebrating the identity, heritage and evolving contemporary culture of Zanzibar. The publication also seeks to serve as a platform for collaboration between the creative industry, tourism sector and private sector stakeholders.
With planned distribution across selected regional and international markets, Zanzibar Magazine aims to strengthen Zanzibar’s visibility among global audiences while contributing to destination marketing and cultural promotion efforts.
